About

I am a photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have been passionate about making images for most of my life. After successful careers as a journalist and a lawyer, I now have the liberty to focus my full attention and effort on photography. I strive to find meaning in the mundane and beauty that is hidden in plain sight. I view the camera as an extension of myself, a window into my impressions of the world.

I don’t define myself by any one genre. My images draw on elements of Abstract, Travel, Landscape and Street photography. My approach varies depending on my mood and the subject. I am drawn as strongly to the work of photographers like Stephen Shore and Joel Meyerowitz as I am to that of those who follow in the footsteps of Eliot Porter and Ansel Adams.

I use camera movement and soft focus to accentuate natural patterns and colors and reveal structure hidden below the surface of reality. I am mesmerized by the patterns of moving water, drawn to the beauty of flowers and trees, and captivated by small landscapes. In my travels I attempt to soak up the extraordinary but photograph the ordinary. I take photographs to collect cultural objects and historic artifacts before they disappear. Yet I love abandoned buildings, peeling paint and other signs of decay. I am intrigued by similarities in places that are worlds apart. I seek out unintentional humor, odd juxtapositions, and human emotion on the street. I shoot what I see.

Welcome to My Sight.
